FEAR OF CONTROVERSY
Never before in the history of our white race has such a spirit of timidity, of abject fear of offending anyone, taken hold of almost everybody. Go where you will, into the homes, the offices, public dinners, public forums, you will find the idea that certain subjects are taboo: they cannot be mentioned, because they are controversial. Why are you forbidden to freely speak your views on the important subjects of social, economic, political and religious life of today? Well, you really are not forbidden to - unless you happen to be on the side of Americanism, of conservatism, of Christianity.
You constantly find that those who hate your God are free to speak their minds at all times, to denounce your religion, even to demand that the forces of law be turned against it, to outlaw it in the schools and all public places. If you say a word in protest, you are at once denounced as a religious bigot, and reminded that there is freedom of religion for everyone - except you.
Those who hate everything that has made our nation great, who hate all that has brought us the highest standard of living the world has ever known, and who want to replace it with that front porch of Communism - Socialism, these have monopolized our schools and have taken over our political parties: they can, and do, speak against our way of life on every occasion. Oppose them with a word, and you are at once reminded of their sacred right of free speech - but you have no such right for you are called a hateful reactionary for opposing them.
Those who hate our free nation - to which most of them have come very recently as refugees - and who want to destroy its freedom by making it a conquered province of the internationalists' United Nations, which is ruled by the cannibals of the Congo (because the jungle savage nations of Africa alone outvote us 30 to 1) - they are free to undermine and attack our nation at all times and in every way; and if you speak in opposition to this, you are called fascist and hate monger. It has actually reached the point where anyone who upholds the political and social views of many great Americans as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Herbert Hoover, Charles Lindbergh, or Gerald L.K. Smith is described by newspaper columnists and radio and TV commentators as being extreme right wing - often with an insinuation of Fascist or Nazi sympathies.
Why is it that their offensive attacks upon all American and Christian principles are sacrosanct, while all of your defense of the great principles of our free nation, our way of life, and our religion, has suddenly become controversial, and hence to be avoided? It is because the truth has always been very controversial. And what makes it so? Only that evil always attacks it, and also attacks the man who will dare to speak it. Christianity is controversial because all the Satanic wickedness in 2,000 years has been hurled against it. The most controversial figure in all history is the One who is the very personification of truth: Jesus Christ. But He never fled from controversy nor kept silent to avoid offending the wicked. To the contrary, He pressed the attack against evil. Today, those who are not able to silence truth completely, try to cut it down to the point where it is no longer effective, by telling us that we must speak only about issues, we must not mention the personalities. But you cannot fight evil this way, because there is no evil in the abstract, it exists only in the evil deeds of evil people. What good can it do to sermonize against wickedness in the abstract to merely shadow-box with the dictionary?
There can be no burglary without a burglar; no treason without a traitor. Point the search light of truth at the traitors, and you can eliminate them, and the treason will stop. But if you merely debate the silly question of whether treason is one of the inherent rights of all liberals, the treason will continue! These truths Jesus Christ knew and demonstrated. The beginning of His ministry was when He found the Temple filled with the corruption of the money-changers. Did He preach abstract sermons on the desirability of honesty, and of reverence for the House of God - but of course without mentioning the dishonest or the irreverent? No! (go to top)

He found the Temple and all the organized religion of the day in the hands of the corrupt men of much outward piety, but spiritual frauds. Did He content himself with preaching on religion in the abstract, without giving offense to these phony pretenders? Oh no! The Bible records nine times He denounced them as hypocrites; six times as blind and fools; and twice He identified them as serpents and a race of Devils; and He told them that even the tax collectors and the harlots would enter the Kingdom of God before they could.
He knew that false ideas cannot arise or exist without someone to teach the falsehoods: so He exposed the whole synagogue of Satan. Of course, this brought upon Him the bitterest hatred ever directed against any person in all history; hatred which is as strong today as on the day of the crucifixion. We Christians are also hated for our faith: but Christianity grew great and strong despite its enemies, and produced its greatest leaders under the stress of persecution. It was always greatest when it was most controversial. Jesus Christ foresaw this; and in Matthew 10 He told us, "Whosoever, therefore, shall confess Me before men, him will I also confess before My Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came NOT to send peace, but a sword." You cannot proclaim truth without much opposition: water it down until evil no longer attacks you, and you have no truth left. The only thing which can peacefully coexist with evil is some other evil.
What should we do? Turn the tables on them: make their evil attacks on true Christianity and Americanism controversial. Get them on the run, and ATTACK! Carry the war to the enemy. Their propaganda has had the field almost entirely to itself, and has brainwashed millions of people. Refute the lies they have foisted upon us. Never let such propaganda be spoken in your very presence without reply. Make it so controversial for any anti-Christian, any anti-American to spout his attacks that those who fear controversy will no longer give the enemy free rein to start it.
Obey God by taking, "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:17) "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." (Matthew 5:11-12) "And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." (Matthew 10:22) "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My name's sake. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." (Matthew 24:9,11) "Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets." (Luke 6:22-23) Truly these words spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ, about His followers, are being fulfilled everywhere today.
It was the religious leaders which hated God's Word and crucified Jesus Christ, and the same gang is still involved in the same game today. These Anti-Christs and their institutions of propaganda have done everything in their power to stop the spread of the True Word of God. Today these Christ Haters have gained such a powerful control over our cities, states, and nation that they are brazen enough to attack not only a Christian individually, but also Christianity in general. Notice the unmitigated gall of these presumptuous impostors! While claiming to promote religious freedom, they deny us freedom of religion by conspiring to slander us through their controlled media.
The news papers have been very helpful by giving these self-righteous Religionists the free use of the front page. Paul warns us about the false brethren who will creep in, "who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage." (Galatians 2:4) Contend for your Faith!!!
